Soooooo much anxiety. In a get out of debt attempt, we are selling our house. I am self-employed and not making quite what I used to. The monthly bills are stressing me out. If we got rid of my school loans, car payment, credit card bill, and medical bills we would be saving approximately $1,450 every month. Every month! So what we are planning to do is sell our house and move further out of town where we can get “More bang for our buck.” I wonder how that euphemism started… After the difference of what we still owe on the house, we are hoping to have $60,000 Cash to Seller. That will take care of debt with hopefully a little change left over to put a downpayment on a new home. There might be a period where we rent for a month after we close on this house and find another. It would be nice if it happened simultaneously. Oi. I hope it’s the right move. I’m sad and a little apprehensive. We invested a lot in our current house. Financially, physically, and emotionally. My last baby was born here! My ol dog is buried in the backyard! We planted grapevines and 6 trees! We’re not going to find a house in town with this size of a backyard! My oldest (6) is pretty upset about moving. I empathize but he may be more sentimental than I am if that’s possible. I think the season of this house is coming to an end. It served it’s purpose well.
We’ve come across a wrinkle in the plan. When we first started discussing the move we wanted a little homestead where we can have farm animals. Right now we have space but our HOA won’t allow it. We were hoping to find a nice home and property but we haven’t seen any that fit the budget and our expectations. So this next move might not be our last move. SIGH.
Next Steps
Make improvements to our current house to make it more sellable. I wish I had done some of these upgrades before I was self-employed! But that’s fine. Either borrow money from parental units (plus interest) or use a credit card (plus much higher interest) to get improvements done then sell for more. That’s the hope anyway.
